From the Vicar’s Desk….

Dearly beloved in Christ,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus

Christ. We have already completed three months of this year. By God’s grace we could celebrate this year’s passion week.

“Seeing is believing” is an old saying but if  we believe only what we see, we will never know God or experience His presence. There are some incidences that are heard through certain reports, news and some directly seen with our own eyes. This raises a question in our minds. Should I believe my eyes or reports from reliable sources.

After Jesus was raised from the dead, Thomas refused to believe the reports that Jesus was alive. He  said that unless he  touched the nail mark s on Jesus’ hands and the wound on his side, he would not believe (John 20: 24-25). When the Lord appeared to the disciples eight days later, Jesus said to Thomas, “Because you have seen me you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed”          ( John 20:29).

Even though we have not seen Jesus, we accept by faith the word of reliable witnesses, we embrace the living Lord and we believe.

The following are the words of Anon “I know by faith in whom I have believed, I know that God’s free gift I have received, I know that He will keep me to the end, my Savior, my Redeemer and my Friend”. Faith is beyond seeing, touching and feeling. In brief faith sees what eyes cannot.

I am grateful to each and every member of this parish for their manifold co-operation and help in different ways. In this respect, I am grateful to the trustees, secretaries, lay leaders and the executive committee members of 2007 and 2008.

May the Lord Almighty help us to continue as a witnessing community in every walks of our day to day life.

With love and prayerful regards.

Jose Abraham Achan.
